Getting to the refuge
From beginners to experienced hikers, the various trails around the refuge offer routes to suit every level.
From the intermediate cable car station – 2,400 m
Allow around 1 hour of walking along an easy trail with no major difficulties. The path is suitable for children.
Little extra: With a half-board stay at the refuge, enjoy a discount on your cable car pass.
From La Grave – 1,450 m
A beautiful walk through the forest, leading you to the refuge in around 3 hours.
Via the Fréaux trail – 1,350 m
A more sporty and demanding route, reaching the refuge in less than 2.5 hours.
From the Ruillans cable car station – 3,200 m
A spectacular high-mountain atmosphere awaits you. Don’t miss the stop at Col du Lac, offering an unforgettable view over the Girose Glacier. Allow around 1.5 hours of descent on a rocky trail.
Little extra: After your hike, cool off with a refreshing swim at Lake Puy Vachier.

Whether you’re stopping by for a refreshing drink, a delicious omelette or the must-try blueberry tart, our team welcomes you throughout the day with a smile.
For lunch, take a seat on the terrace facing La Meije: here, the view is just as delightful as what’s on your plate.

Accommodation
In addition to the traditional dormitories and the panoramic room, treat yourself to a stay in the “Cabane aux Ânes”, a private 11-bed accommodation located just 100 metres from the refuge.
To set off on your next adventure with peace of mind, our team can also prepare a takeaway picnic for your hike the following day.
